Do I have to be an expert climber?
No, the Rock Climbing Club is for beginner to advanced climbers.
How do I join the Rock Climbing Club at UCF?UCF students can join the Rock Climbing Club at our monthly meetings or at any of our events.
How much does membership cost?The club membership costs $20 for the entire academic year (Fall-Spring).
What are the benefits of membership?Benefits include a club T-shirt, new member gift, discounts on equipment and climbing memberships, ability to check out equipment, learn climbing techniques, and having fun climbing with fellow UCF climbers.
In what ways do the club members give back to the community?The Rock Climbing Club is committed to giving back to the Orlando community by taking a group of kids from the Coalition for the Homeless climbing each semester.
What kinds of activities do members take part?Our activities include outdoor trips (GA, TN, AL), club climbs, technique and safety classes, taking underpriviliged kids climbing, club BBQs, climbing competitions, UCF Challenge Course, climb-a-thon, climbing trips to other indoor gyms around Florida, etc.
How can I meet up with members to climb?The best way to meet people to climb with is to participate in one of the club events or to come to the meetings. This way you can find out when and where people climb and join in.
There are no mountains in Florida, where do you climb?The club does most of their climbing at the UCF Climbing Tower or at Aiguille Rock Climbing Center in Longwood. Each semester we take an outdoor trip and experience real rock climbing.
